Anyone actually care about those? I'm kinda embarrassed about them at this point, even though there's only four. In fact, don't be surprised if more stuff quietly disappears from that list because I'm too embarrassed of the old art. Not that anyone pays attention to it, but...

Number one: For Christmas, I got a drawing tablet, so I'm getting used to drawing with it before I start getting stuff uploaded again.

Number two: Tomorrow, my family and I are getting up early and heading down the coast for a couple of weeks, so I'm gonna be gone for a while anyway.

Number three: I'm just quiet generally, I think. That's my excuse for the journal being quiet. My go-to excuse for not uploading things right now is "likely no internet for the next two weeks" and "getting used to tablet".

I should get the chance to draw while we're away, so I may or may not have stuff ready to upload when I get back... of course, I may or may not have internet access while we're away, but that isn't always the case, so better to be prepared.

SA Chap2 Cover: Don't think I'm gonna get this done somehow...
SA Novel: I may have a 60k novel, but that doesn't mean it's ready for reading. xD
HaW 12 to 21: They need cleaning up, then I can colour... but I seem to be working on page 10 for some reason. Must check that.
HaW 22 to 29: They're written down somewhere, but not drawn yet.
HaW Character Page: Arranging the bits I have so far. Not finished drawing though.
RS4 10 to 13: Complete. Yeah, I'm lazy.
Horse Sled: Planning, gotta decide who to include.

I'm not dead. 8D

So yeah, I realised I should mention that I'm not dead and give you a guys an excuse for why I've been quiet all November. Before then, the excuse was that I'm just lazy. But yeah, I've been doing NANOWRIMO!
(If you don't know, the point of NaNoWriMo aka National Novel Writing Month is to write a 50,000 word novel throughout November 8D)
I'm past 40k words right now, scheduled tomorrow to pass 45k. The novel that I'm writing, you may ask? Well, I knew 50k was too short for it, since I'm just now reaching a point about halfway through my plans, but the story itself is one people who've been watching me should be pretty familiar with:

Writing this was only an excuse to procrastinate a bit more on my writing today. I've got about 900 more words to reach today's milestone, so I should get back to that now. It's 1667 words a day, y'know!

So life has gone on and I've basically recovered everything I can now... which is a single out-of-date file from my memory stick. Luckily, it is of use even in its out-of-date state because it's the ONLY remnant of any of my (written) planning for Horns and Wings.
Guh, I've been rebuilding my family tree for that today. I really wish I'd gotten around to making a picture version of that and putting it up. There was so much information in that one spreadsheet... and now I have to struggle and work it out. Luckily those profiles (remember those? the ones of Preeni the pegasid, Kram the unicorn and Cowhart the unipeg?) had all the possible colours on them, so I didn't have to run around digging up pictures too much and guessing what I couldn't find.
Oh yes, and Horns and Wings just happened to be what I was working on prior to the crash. Three members of Velvet's family had had their names changed, and I had gone through everything to be sure their old names were not hiding anywhere... now I've had to revert because I can't remember the new names. And the pegasids too... I had changed to calling them "Pterrippi", which is technically the correct term for them... only I can't remember right now if it's spelled "pterrippi" or "pterippi"...

Another thing slowly coming along is a fanfiction I'd been writing for many months. I'd only recently got up the courage to start posting it on Fanfiction.net when I lost it all in the crash, so I've been madly trying to rewrite it.
If you're interested, it's a Homestar Runner fanfic, basically a runthrough of the SBCG4AP finale from an alternate universe where they're humans; I thought a situation like that would make the takeover of their world more interesting. Unfortunately, I only got five chapters up before the crash, so the sixth was written in about a day to apologise in advance for how long it would take to rewrite. I'd almost finished it too... *sniff*

Oh yes, the REAL reason I wanted to update!
I haven't yet regained Gimp, but I plan to soon. All my programs are on a list of importance, but I'm limiting myself to one a day until our download limit gets too high, then I have to stop and wait for it to reset. So I'm doing that right now. Next month, I might have a new picture to put up to show everyone. Or maybe a recoloured comic. We'll just have to see, I guess.

SA Novel: Will work on chapter 3 as I recover the comic.

HaW 22 to 29: Recovered the planning up to 29, of which I have one line. 29 and 30 will have to be rewritten.
HaW Character Page: Got pictures for most of them. I also recovered the planning, which is good.

Long rant ahead.

So you might remember I mentioned my lappy, Ati, was having overheating problems, which caused her to shut down suddenly. It turns out that that's a common problem with this model, as the cooling system sucks up dust and clogs up easily. Dad and I figured this was a quick and easy fix, so we shut her down, opened 'er up, and sure enough that thing was clogged up beyond belief.
Really. There was like a whole handful of dust.
(Hey, how has Brother's lappy escaped this fate? His is the same model, and actually older than mine!)
Anyway, once we'd cleaned her up, we screwed back on the cover and I booted 'er up to get back to what I was doing.
Problem.
Now, over the last few days, whenever Ati booted up, she did one of three things, usually in order: Firstly, not boot up at all and just give a black screen; Secondly, request a check of the start-up processes, do so and then freeze; Thirdly, I now deny the check, she does a very lengthy disk check on her own and starts up normally. I figured this was a short term thing at the time and she would quickly go back to normal, and she seemed to be now as she went straight to stage three and did her lengthy disk-check. I figured a few more practise runs of Expert Mode on Lego Rock Band wouldn't hurt, so I sat back and waited.
And waited.
And waited.
I'm pretty certain it took at least an hour for that frickin' check to finish. While it was going on, Other Brother stormed the room and we played Mouse Trap twice and a random travel game I had lying around and even went off to lunch. Dad was suspicious, especially when I noticed Ati had shut down at some point and started her back up, but only to get a frozen black screen. Stage one again.
After lunch, I found Dad in my room fiddling around in a part of the start-up program I had never seen before, running checks on the hardware. Apparently, the hard disk was corrupted. Our only choice was to wipe everything and re-install from scratch.
Problem two.
The security progam on Ati at the time, Norton, had taken a dislike to our backup program, Retrospect, back in January, and blocked it from accessing my files. The last confirmed complete scan was back then at the beginning of the year. On last Friday Dad had struggled with Norton for a while to allow Retrospect access to run a backup, but while it was running Ati suddenly shut down again and Norton was right back to blocking Retrospect again when Ati restarted. I was pretty certain the backup had been left unfinished, but Dad seemed to believe it was complete when he went to check up on it.
Problem three.
I was right.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.
Oh well, at least Dad could retrieve stuff from the backup done in January, right?
Problem four.
No. Retrospect failed too.
*sigh*

I'm still reviewing the damage, but going in order by what I've gathered, everything I had ever downloaded or that I made in Tafe was gone (weirdly), only about half of my documents survived (mostly the unimportant ones), all my music bar the Mulan CD (oddly) was wiped, most of my pictures survived but on closer inspection a few are missing, all but the easily replacable videos disappeared and to top it all off I lost my internet favourites, my OneNote notebooks which included my password lists and, of course, ALL OF MY FLASH ANIMATIONS.
I have yet to see if I can recover Flash itself.

Thanks Retrospect, Norton and Ati's hard drive. You really made Easter 2010 a memorable one for me.
