Part 2, I hear you ask? Don't worry, part 1 was unrelated and happened years ago.

So yet again, life interferes and completely ruins my plans. A few days ago, I was reading something on the internet when my screen suddenly died. I thought the laptop had randomly gone into standby, so I closed the lid and opened it again to bring it out and it seemed to work. However, the problem didn't go away. By the third time it'd happened, I'd noticed that the computer wasn't going into standby, only darkening the screen so much it was as good as off. I had to hand the problem over to Dad, and after he'd looked at it (being forced to use the monitor from his own computer because mine kept dieing), he said it couldn't be a software problem and was thus a hardware problem.

Because of this, my laptop is thus out of commission, along with ALL my pictures, GIMP, my stories, my plannings, my calendar, etcetera etcetera. >.> I'm also now having to share the big computer with my brothers and whoever else needs to use its scanner or programs at any point. So I'll be as good as banned from the internet for the forseeable future.

Dad's sending the lappy off to be looked at, but we have no idea at this point if it's a fixable problem or if I'll have to get an entirely new one. Dad's done a backup of the stuff on it just in case, either way. Sigh.

EDIT: Looked up my old journals from around the time, and I likely recieved my current laptop around early 2005... just in case anyone was curious.
